"To my fellow yogis in larger bodies, this class is for you. Have you ever been afraid to try a yoga class because you thought you didn’t have a “yoga body”? Have you ever felt left out in a yoga class because the teacher didn’t offer accessible options? Have you ever taken a yoga class with a yoga teacher that reflected your body type?
YogaXL is a safe and supportive space for students in larger bodies to discover and explore their yoga practice. Whether you are brand new to yoga, returning to your practice, or a seasoned yoga practitioner, you can benefit from this workshop. During this three hour workshop, you will explore self acceptance, self celebration, and the right to take up space. We will discuss the history and philosophy of yoga, and how it applies to practicing yoga in an abundant body. You will learn how to use props to support your practice, and how to build your own adaptations for common poses. We will breakdown yoga sequences and learn how to work with your body, not against it. I hope that through this workshop, you will gain the tools to attend any YOGA class you want, with the power to take ownership of your practice and explore in a way that feels good in your body.
This workshop is for students in abundant bodies, teachers wishing to make their class more accessible, and anyone looking to create and celebrate a more inclusive culture of Yoga." - Jenny Bones
We recommend bringing a yoga mat, water and a small towel. Don't have your own mat? We have a few we can lend out.
