TEACHERS

Our skillful instructors help you go deeper into your practice while respecting your individual needs. We encourage all yogis to move towards a mindful practice that balances the physicality of asanas with breath work and meditation. Whether you are new to yoga or have made it a part of your lifestyle for many years, we invite you to enter the studio with a beginner’s mind and be open to the possibilities of your practice.

At Serenity Yoga & Wellness, we practice the intention of yoga by treating everyone with respect and love. We are passionate about helping students deepen their mind/body connection, heal from past physical injuries and emotional trauma, and empower personal growth.

BILLIE WIANT

ERYT 500, Vinyasa Flow

Billie received her first yoga class as a Valentine’s Day gift in 2018, and the gift that yoga gave back is one she loves to share with everyone. A lifelong hair stylist, Billie was looking for a new direction that still allowed her to connect with others, and yoga provided that opportunity. Starting as a student at Serenity Yoga, she soon got her friends, family, and husband to attend classes as well. Her passion for yoga led her to become a teacher, and she is now the proud owner of Serenity Yoga Studio.

Billie finds the meditative aspects of yoga and longer holds, like those in Yin Yoga, to be particularly transformative.

In her classes, Billie offers options for all levels, encouraging those who want to work harder while assuring those who prefer a gentler practice that they are free to choose how to practice in their own bodies. This inclusive approach has helped create a loving and compassionate community at Serenity Yoga Studio.

"In my class, you will find a safe place to let go, a smiling face, a non-judgmental teaching style, and a warm environment. Yoga is freedom and acceptance. My goal is to help others find this space so they can move their bodies through life with compassion and joy. Welcome to your mat. Welcome home." – Billie

LAUREN FONVIELLE

200-RYT, EFT/Tapping, Yin & Vinyasa

Lauren turned to yoga during some of the most challenging times in her life. Yoga became the guide post that helped her focus inward and discover truths about herself that she never knew existed. Becoming a RYT-200 Yoga Teacher was the beginning of a beautiful journey that then led to becoming an EFT Practitioner, Reiki Practitioner and MindShift Coach.  Combining these modalities to help others break through obstacles- physical, mental, or emotional is her passion.

"I believe life is too short, and we must use our time wisely.  We all deserve to find what lights our soul on fire. We must go after what we want, speak our truth, and share it proudly. Yoga is a practice of coming home to yourself in the most beautiful way."

JENN HICKMAN

RYT-200, Certified Trauma Informed Yoga & Meditation, & Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Facilitator, Vinyasa

Hey there! I'm Jenn — Yoga Lover, Mindfulness Guide, and SEL Superfan!

I've been on the yoga journey for almost a decade, starting with just wanting a good stretch and ending up falling in love with the whole mind-body-spirit thing. Turns out, yoga is way more than just cool poses—it's a deep, magical, sometimes messy path to healing, growth, and inner peace (with a few wobbly tree poses along the way).

I teach with a big heart and a gentle, playful vibe—combining movement, breath, and mindfulness in a way that feels authentic, inclusive, and totally human. My approach blends traditional yoga wisdom with modern practices like somatics and trauma-informed care, all wrapped up in a cozy, welcoming space where you can just be you.

By day, I'm a K-2 Special Education Teacher who sneaks yoga and mindfulness into the classroom (shhh, don’t tell the kids—it’s actually good for them!). I also team up with local schools to bring yoga to students and athletes, and basically say “yes” to any chance I get to share the benefits of yoga with the community.

Off the mat, you’ll often find me hiking through nature with my spouse of 17 years, watching a good thriller movie with my soul level son,  baking sourdough while sidestepping five fur babies who clearly think they’re in charge, digging in the garden to connect more deeply with Mother Earth, or curled up with a good book—depending on the season and my caffeine levels!

I can't wait to connect and share the magic of yoga with you. Let’s breathe, connect and grow together one asana at a time.

HEATHER RICE

ERYT 200, Vinyasa, Gentle, Yin, Restorative. EveryBODY Sequence & Yoga for Beginners

Heather (she/her) came to her mat in late 2019, seeking to improve her mental and physical health, and was surprised to find so much more! Yoga led Heather to look within and become familiar with herself on a deeper level, allowing her to live her life out loud and encourage others to do the same.

Heather completed her 200-hour YTT at The Light Within in 2022 with Lynn Slocomb and a second Vinyasa-based 200-hour YTT in June 2023 at Serenity Yoga Studio with Rebecca Sirman. Her passion for making yoga classes accessible to people of all shapes, sizes, and walks of life grows by the day. Heather’s classes always include the use of props and variations to make poses work for your unique body, while offering a safe space to come to your mat and simply be. She encourages you to connect with your body, on and off the mat, checking in with your own needs and responding in a nourishing way.

Heather is currently working on a 300-hour yoga teacher training program with Diane Bondy, expanding her skills and knowledge with the goal of leading yoga teacher trainings in the future. She envisions planting the seed of accessible yoga in other instructors, empowering them to share and spread its transformative impact far and wide.

LISA BOYD

RYT-200, Yoga for Beginners

Lisa walked into her first yoga class in January of 2016 despondent and lacking purpose & clarity. Yoga transformed Lisa and she hasn’t looked back. Yoga has brought balance to her life and allowed her to walk in grace and authenticity without apology. When challenges appear or life becomes especially hard – Lisa finds solace in her breath and her mat is her sanctuary. Lisa’s alter ego finds her working in the financial industry during the day but most nights – she can be found on her mat at Serenity.

Lisa completed her 200 hour YTT certification in 2019 along with becoming a Balanced Athlete instructor. Lisa considers herself extremely fortunate to have found a community of kind, compassionate teachers and practitioners at Serenity.
Lisa’s goal in teaching yoga is to help others find themselves through this meditative practice, stay in a state of gratitude and keep a beginner’s mindset. Lisa’s mantra is meet your body where it is, on any given day.

AMANDA TISDEL

RYT-200, Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Embodiment

& Ecstatic Dance

Amanda found yoga in 2008 when she entered her very first hot yoga class and it changed her life forever. As someone who up until that point in her life had never thought about movement, health or wellness, yoga shifted her life trajectory in a great way from the inside out. Since then she has dedicated her life to movement and breath and embodiment as a way to live a fuller, more present and more enriched life. Amanda continued to receive yoga as her sacred embodied spiritual practice while she went on to become a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor where she taught movement modalities such as Pilates, HIIT, and even Ecstatic Dance until 2023 when she finally received her 200-hour YTT in Southern California from I Heart Yoga.

Amanda believes that Yoga is a doorway into a life of self discovery and self inquiry. It's a curious play where we get to utilize breath and movement to embark on a deeper life journey if we desire. Amanda loves to share upbeat and challenging Vinyasa style yoga with others while also creating a safe and encouraging space for people of every body type and every fitness level to join in and create their own unique experience in class. She offers different variations and utilizes tools like blocks and straps to make every pose accessible to everybody. She believes there is no right way to do yoga and we all get to play and move into and out of shapes that serve our body and our souls awakening.

Amanda’s favorite motto for everything these days is, “It’s just not that serious!”

CHRISTINE MICEK

Yin Yoga Teaching Certifcation, Yin Yoga

I came to yoga to care for myself and found Yin Yoga as a path to stillness, breath, and deep connection. My first class at Serenity Yoga Studio taught me the power of letting go—and I’ve been practicing ever since. Inspired by the supportive community around me,

I earned my Yin Yoga certification through Yoga Renew. In my classes, I create space for reflection, gentle release, and the quiet strength found in stillness. I hope students leave feeling grounded, open, and at ease in both body and mind

MARLENE FLANAGAN

RYT-200, Yin

Marlene’s approach to yoga is simple. “Just show up.” . Allow your  mind to connect to your breath, your body to connect to the movement,  and your spirits to be lifted.

Marlene discovered yoga 15 years ago when she decided to try a class at her local gym in NJ. At first, it wasn’t for her. Transitioning  from  high intensity work-outs to learning to slow down and breathe just wasn’t making the right connection for her. Until she tried again and found an instructor that resonated with her. This connection stirred emotions, self awareness and the need to learn  more about this ancient practice.

In 2017 she decided to become certified and has been teaching ever since. She has worked at studios, gyms, schools, recreation centers, country clubs and active adult communities. Though her experience in teaching various individuals and platforms is expansive, her love for  meeting new students, sharing her energy and her eclectic mix of playlists has always remained the same.

Everyone is unique and has their own journey and Marlene is dedicated to providing a safe environment in which to explore your practice. Marlene loves to work on balance and core postures, offering  options to enjoy and feel every pose in your own way.

Marlene has continued to grow her own practice by becoming  Reiki II certified, Yin Yoga certified, as well as continuing to study alignment and adjustment. She hopes that her students' personal time on their mat will translate into other areas of their life, as it has for her.
